ID21 worked “outside-in” for the Singapore office of Simmons & Simmons JWS: looking at how to bring in nature to develop a soothing aura of green surroundings. The concept of “terraces and pavilions” guided layout planning, lining the office and demarcating meeting zones. To suit the law firm’s working habits, individual workstations had to offer privacy but not cause isolation, as well as to encourage team collaboration.
Nature comes to the fore in this design: vertical and horizontal landscaping maximize the sweeping views of greenery that meets the eye, matched with the choice of beautifully veined marble and wood, an effect that is carefully balanced to create an ambience that is both inspiring and sophisticated. The trellis motif is repeated in etched glass patterns and partitions, allowing sunlight to filter through the layers of spaces and evoking the uplifting feeling of entering the forest canopy. The use of operable walls in the central breakout can be configured in different ways – fully closed for noise containment, or open in different shapes to best suit different function use or furniture placement.
